Have you recently taken up a loan? Are you struggling to pay the monthly fees? Are you concerned about the option of losing your house and car? You’re not the only one! Dozens of people encounter financial problems in some stage of their lives. It could happen because they spent too much and couldn’t afford it, or by an emergency, sudden illness and such. But you can solve the situation, if only you would put just a little effort in it.

The first thing you need to do to help yourself is to pay up all of your debts and then come up with a financial plan for the future. Just sit down and try to calculate the mounts you spend every month and how much is left from your income (if any). Try to divide your expenses into two groups: must and luxury. In the “must” group list the expenses that are steady every month and that you cannot avoid like rent. In the second group list the expenses that are variable and that you don’t have to spend every month like new outfit. In the end make a group for things you want, but don’t absolutely have to buy.

Try to evaluate how much you will spend on your ‘must’ and ‘luxury’ groups and always put down enough money for them. Your aim is to make sure you can afford your basics needs: food, housing, health insurance and education. Try to reduce your ‘wants’ expenses as much as you can.

If you already took up a loan, contact the creditors to let them know that you’re in financial problems. Bid them to provide you with another payment plan, so that you will be able to pay them back. Don’t be skeptic; most of the creditors will try to help you, because eventually they want their money back!

Be aware of loans, especially auto loans. If you don’t pay up in time the lenders have a right to repossess your car. Try to avoid that by paying your installments on time, and prefer selling or trading your car for a cheaper one. That way you will loose less. If that doesn’t work, bid your lender for more time –“grace time” without adding extra fees, so that it won’t harm your credit.
